What is the Decree Fellowship?

The Decree Fellowship is a two-week intensive summer programme for twelve final-year Omani law students. It combines expert-led sessions, practical skills workshops, a field visit, and a capstone group project.


When and where does it take place?

The fellowship runs from 2 to 13 August 2026 at the Novotel Muscat Airport Hotel in Muscat, Oman.


Who is eligible to apply?

The fellowship is open to final-year undergraduate law students in local universities and final-year Omani undergraduate law students in international universities.

A final-year student means a student expected to complete their degree requirements and graduate in 2027.


Is there a cost to participate?

No. The Decree Fellowship is free of charge to attend. Fellows are responsible for their own accommodation and travel to Muscat.


What is the daily schedule like?

The programme runs daily from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Sunday through Thursday, with scheduled breaks for breakfast, coffee, and lunch.


What language is the programme delivered in?

The programme is bilingual, delivered in both Arabic and English.


What is the capstone project?

In teams of four, fellows will identify a legal gap or challenge in Omani law, research the policy context, and present their findings and recommendations to a panel of senior lawyers on the final day.


When can I apply?

Applications open on 1 May 2026 and close on 1 July 2026.


What do I need to submit for my application?

The application form will require you to submit a CV, a transcript of your university grades so far, a personal statement, and a reference letter from a university professor.


How will I know if I have been selected?

Successful applicants will be notified by mid-July 2026.
